The route
Da Nang Airport → Hue (2 nights) → Hoi An (2 nights) → Da Nang (1 night or straight to the airport). Doing Hue first means the longest drive happens on the day you arrive, and you end the trip near the airport.
Day 1: Da Nang Airport to Hue over the Hai Van Pass
Land in Da Nang and drive north. If you arrive in the morning, take the Hai Van Pass with photo stops at the summit and Lang Co Bay; if you land late, take the tunnel. Arrive in Hue in time for dinner by the Perfume River.
Car: Da Nang Airport to Hue, $60 (5-seat) / $70 (7-seat).
Day 2: Hue
- Morning: the Imperial City, before the midday heat.
- Afternoon: Thien Mu Pagoda and one or two royal tombs: Khai Dinh or Minh Mang.
- Evening: Dong Ba Market area and a walk by the Perfume River.

Day 3: Hue to Hoi An
Leave Hue after breakfast. The driver can go over the pass again with stops at Lang Co and the summit, or through the tunnel if you saw the pass on day 1. Arrive in Hoi An after lunch and walk the old town at sunset.

Day 4: Hoi An, My Son or the countryside

Day 5: Da Nang and your flight
