When to leave Hoi An for your flight
Da Nang Airport's own visitor guide recommends arriving 3 hours before an international flight and 2 hours before a domestic flight. International check-in usually closes 50–60 minutes before departure, and domestic check-in about 40 minutes before. Add 40–50 minutes for the drive, plus a small buffer, and you get these pick-up times:
Flight time | International (T2): leave Hoi An | Domestic (T1): leave Hoi An |
|---|---|---|
07:00 | 03:15 | 04:15 |
10:00 | 06:15 | 07:15 |
14:00 | 10:15 | 11:15 |
19:00 | 15:15 | 16:15 |
23:30 | 19:45 | 20:45 |
Leave 15–30 minutes earlier between 16:30 and 18:30, when Da Nang traffic is heaviest, and on rainy days from September to December. During Tet and summer holidays the queues at check-in and security can also be longer.
Which terminal: T1 or T2?
Terminal 1 (T1) handles domestic flights, for example to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang or Phu Quoc.
Terminal 2 (T2) handles international flights, for example to Singapore, Seoul, Busan, Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur.
The two terminals are next to each other and linked by a covered walkway, but it is easier if the driver drops you at the right door. Tell us your flight number when you book and we will check the terminal.
Check-in for both terminals is on the upper level, where the car drops you. T2 also has self check-in kiosks.

Early-morning flights
Many flights to Singapore, Seoul and Bangkok leave Da Nang between 06:00 and 09:00, which means a pick-up in Hoi An between 02:30 and 05:30. Grab cars can be scarce at that hour, and taxis may not be waiting outside small homestays on walking streets.
A pre-booked driver is at your door at the agreed time, with the price fixed in advance. Early pick-ups cost nothing extra.
Ask your hotel the night before for a breakfast box and to settle the bill, so you are not waiting at reception.
If your homestay is on a pedestrian lane in the Ancient Town, the driver will wait at the nearest point cars can reach. We will send you a map pin.
Late flights: make the most of your last day
Most Hoi An hotels check you out at noon. With an evening flight, you have most of a day left:
Store your bags at reception and spend the afternoon at An Bang Beach or in the Ancient Town.
Stop at Marble Mountains on the way. It sits right on the road to the airport, about 20 minutes from Hoi An. A stop adds $4 (under 30 minutes) or $6 (longer); your luggage stays locked in the car. Read our Marble Mountains guide for tickets and the lift.
See a little of Da Nang first. Ask for a short stop at My Khe Beach or the Dragon Bridge if you have time before check-in.
What is included in the price
One price per car, not per person: $18 for a 5-seat car (up to 3 guests with luggage) or $23 for a 7-seat car (up to 5 guests).
Pick-up at your hotel in the Ancient Town, An Bang, Cam Thanh or Cua Dai; fuel, tolls and airport parking.
Child seats on request at no extra cost.
No deposit: pay the driver at the airport, in cash (VND or USD) or by bank transfer.
If your driver is more than 15 minutes late, the ride is free.
