How long do you need at Marble Mountains?
Plan 1.5 to 2 hours for Thuy Son, the largest of the five mountains, with its caves, pagodas and viewpoints. You can climb the stairs or take the lift for part of the way up. Go before 9:00 to avoid the heat and the tour groups. For the full guide, see exploring the Marble Mountains.
Combining Marble Mountains with other sights
- With Non Nuoc stone carving village: the workshops are at the foot of the mountains, 5 minutes away.
- With Hoi An: continue south for 25–30 minutes and arrive in Hoi An for the lanterns.
- With Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra: about 30 minutes north, a good pair for a half-day with a private driver.
Marble Mountains by Grab or taxi
Grab to Marble Mountains is easy and cheap from the city. The catch is the way back or onwards: you wait for a new car at the entrance, and you cannot leave bags in it. If you are moving hotels or adding other stops, a private car is simpler.
What the price includes
- One price per car: a 5-seat car takes up to 3 guests with luggage, a 7-seat car up to 5 and a 16-seat van up to 12.
- Fuel, tolls and parking.
- Free child seats on request, plus bottled water, wet wipes and Wi-Fi in the car.
- No deposit: pay the driver at the end, in cash (VND or USD) or by bank transfer.
- If your driver is more than 15 minutes late, the ride is free.
