What “cheap” actually costs in Da Nang

Cheap hotels in Da Nang start at about 227,000₫ a night for a clean, air-conditioned double room — roughly US$9. By 500,000₫ you are choosing between a rooftop pool, a beach-block address and breakfast included, and you rarely have to give up all three. Da Nang is one of the few coastal cities in Asia where budget does not mean far from the water.

This guide names seven places that were open and taking bookings when we checked. Every address, star rating, review count and nightly rate below was read off each property’s own Google listing on 27 August 2026 — nothing here is estimated.

Rates are the lowest nightly price Google showed for a midweek stay (8–9 September 2026, two guests) at the time of checking. Da Nang pricing swings hard with season and holidays — treat these as a floor, not a quote.

Hanami Hotel Danang — the best all-round value

61-63 Hoang Ke Viem, Ngu Hanh Son, Da Nang · 4.6★ (2,196 Google reviews) · from 227,000₫ a night · Open in Google Maps

The cheapest room on this list also has the strongest record: 4.6 stars across more than two thousand reviews is unusual at this price anywhere in Vietnam. It is a proper three-star hotel two streets back from My Khe beach, in the An Thuong block where most of the city’s Western-facing cafes and restaurants sit. If you only want one recommendation from this page, take this one.

Rom Casa Hostel Da Nang — a hostel with a pool

47 An Thuong 4, Ngu Hanh Son, Da Nang · 4.5★ (540 Google reviews) · from 260,000₫ a night · Open in Google Maps

Built out of converted shipping containers around a courtyard pool and a bar, Rom Casa is the social option that has stayed good for years rather than coasting on early reviews. Dorms and private rooms both available. It sits inside the An Thuong grid, so you can walk to dinner and back at night.

Starfish Alley Hostel — cheapest bed near the beach

5 My Da Dong 12, Ngu Hanh Son, Da Nang · 4.0★ (229 Google reviews) · from 239,000₫ a night · Open in Google Maps

A small, quiet hostel on one of the alleys behind My Khe. At 239,000₫ it is competing with places twice as far from the sand. Expect simple rooms and a helpful front desk rather than facilities.

Bantique Hotel — pool and spa on a budget

17 Pham Van Dong, An Hai, Da Nang · 4.0★ (559 Google reviews) · from 251,000₫ a night · Open in Google Maps

Pham Van Dong runs straight from the Han River to the beach, so this address puts you between the two with a pool and a small spa attached. Useful if you are travelling as a pair and want a hotel rather than a hostel without paying hotel prices.

The Backpacker Hostel & Spa — the sociable one

27 Nguyen Dinh, An Hai, Da Nang · 4.1★ (355 Google reviews) · from 300,000₫ a night · Open in Google Maps

Run for backpackers rather than by accident: tours, bike hire and a bar, with a spa attached. It is on the An Hai side of the river, a short ride from both the beach and the city centre. Good if you are arriving alone and want people to talk to on night one.

Danang Beach 2 Hotel — closest to the sand

Lo 36 An Thuong 33, Ngu Hanh Son, Da Nang · 4.3★ (46 Google reviews) · from 303,000₫ a night · Open in Google Maps

Google lists direct beach access here, which almost nothing else at this price can claim. The review count is low — 46 — so the 4.3 rating is less settled than the others on this list. Worth it if beach proximity is the whole point of your trip.

City Hostel Da Nang — the city-centre pick

114 Yen Bai, Hai Chau, Da Nang · 4.3★ (492 Google reviews) · from 489,000₫ a night · Open in Google Maps

The only entry here that is not near the beach, and the most expensive at 489,000₫. What you buy is Hai Chau: the Han River bridges, the Cham Museum, Con Market and the city’s working restaurants all within walking distance. Studios and dorms, breakfast included. Choose this if you came for the city rather than the coast.

Which area should you book?

An Thuong / My Khe (Ngu Hanh Son). Five of the seven sit here. Beach at the end of the street, dense with cafes, laundries and cheap restaurants. This is the default answer for a first trip.

An Hai. Across the Han River from the old centre and one block from the beach road. Slightly cheaper for the same standard, slightly less walkable at night.

Hai Chau. The actual city — markets, museums, riverside. Better food, no beach. Best if you are here for two or three nights and want to see the city rather than swim.

What 250,000₫ gets you, and what it does not

At this level you can reliably expect air conditioning, hot water, fast wifi and daily cleaning. Lifts are common, breakfast is sometimes included, and staff usually speak enough English to sort a taxi or a laundry run.

What you should not expect: soundproofing, a view, or a room bigger than about 18 square metres. Windowless “economy” rooms are common at the bottom of the range and are usually clearly labelled — read the room type, not just the headline rate.

One local quirk worth knowing: many budget properties quote a lower rate for cash on arrival than the online price, but you lose free cancellation. If your dates are fixed, ask.

When prices move, and by how much

The rates on this page are what the budget tier looks like on an ordinary weekday. Three periods break that, and they break it hard:

  • Tết (Lunar New Year). The single most expensive week of the year, and the one where “just walk in” stops working. Many small family-run guesthouses also close for several days so staff can go home. Book weeks ahead or avoid it.
  • 30 April – 1 May. Reunification Day and Labour Day fall together and produce Vietnam’s biggest domestic travel wave. Da Nang’s beach is a primary destination for it.
  • June to August. Vietnamese school holidays. This is the domestic high season on the coast, and it is when the cheap beachfront rooms in this guide are hardest to get.

The quiet stretches are the reverse: September to November brings the rain (and the typhoon window), which is exactly why rooms are cheapest then. March to May is the compromise most people want — dry, not yet crowded, not yet peak-priced.

What to expect at this price, practically

A few things surprise first-timers at the bottom of the Da Nang market, and none of them are dealbreakers if you know them in advance.

Your passport goes to reception. Vietnamese law requires accommodation to register foreign guests with local authorities, so the front desk will want your passport at check-in. Most places scan it and hand it straight back; some keep it for an hour. A property that wants to hold it for your whole stay is not doing anything illegal, but you are entitled to ask for it back once registration is done.

“Free breakfast” at this tier means something specific. Usually a bánh mì or a plate of eggs and bread, coffee or tea, served in a narrow window in the morning. It is not a buffet. That is fine — but do not choose between two hotels on the strength of it, because a bowl of mì Quảng down the street costs 35,000₫ and will be better.

The room photos are usually the best room. Small hotels here photograph their nicest unit and sell every category off it. If a specific view or a window matters to you, say so when you book rather than at check-in.

Cash still helps. Card terminals are common but not universal at hostels and family-run hotels, and some add a surcharge. Having the first night in cash removes the problem.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a cheap hotel in Da Nang per night?

From about 227,000₫ (roughly US$9) for a well-rated three-star double, rising to around 500,000₫ for a central studio with breakfast. Prices climb sharply during Tet, the April 30 holiday and the summer domestic season.

Is it cheaper to stay near the beach or in the city?

Near the beach. Five of the seven properties here are in the An Thuong and My Khe blocks and all of them undercut the city-centre option. Hai Chau charges a premium for walkability to the markets and museums.

Are cheap hotels in Da Nang safe?

Generally yes. Da Nang has a low rate of tourist crime and budget properties are licensed and registered like any other. Use the review count as your filter: prefer a 4.0 rating with 500 reviews over a 4.9 with 12.

Should I book ahead or walk in?

Book ahead for anything between June and August or over a Vietnamese public holiday. Outside those windows there is enough supply in An Thuong to walk in and negotiate, though you will rarely beat the online rate by much.
