Golden Bridge Ba Na Hills: Best Time, Photo Tips and Crowds

10/26/2026

Quick answer: The Golden Bridge is the 150-metre walkway held up by two giant stone hands at Sun World Ba Na Hills, about 1,400 m above sea level, and it is included in the standard Ba Na Hills cable car ticket. Go on the first cable cars of the morning, before about 9:30, for the best light and the thinnest crowds. By late morning the bridge is packed, and fog can hide the view at any time of day.

Golden Bridge Ba Na Hills: the key facts

The Golden Bridge (Cau Vang) opened in June 2018 in the Thien Thai Garden area of Ba Na Hills. It is 150 metres long, divided into eight spans, and curves along the hillside so that two weathered "stone" hands seem to lift the gold walkway out of the forest. It became one of Vietnam's most photographed sights almost overnight, and it is still the main reason most people ride the cable car up the mountain.

There is no separate Golden Bridge ticket. Access is included in the Sun World Ba Na Hills cable car ticket, which also covers the mountain railway, Fantasy Park and most of the free attractions at the top. Since 1 January 2026 the cable car ticket is valid for up to three consecutive days, according to Da Nang's official tourism portal (checked October 2026).

Best time to visit the Golden Bridge

Time of day

Early is best. Most tour buses reach the base station between 9:00 and 10:00, and the bridge gets crowded from around 10:00. If you are in one of the first cable cars, you get 30–45 minutes on the bridge with space to move and soft, low light on the hands. Late afternoon is the second-best window, when day-trippers head down, but clouds often roll in after lunch.

Time of year

The clearest views usually come in the drier months, roughly February to August. From September to December, the rainy season in central Vietnam, fog and drizzle at the top are common, and the bridge can disappear into cloud. That has its own atmosphere, but don't expect the classic photo. Check the mountain forecast the morning you go, and keep the day flexible if you can.

Day of week

Weekdays are calmer than weekends. Vietnamese public holidays and the summer school break (June–August) are the busiest periods of the year.

How to get good photos on the Golden Bridge

  • Go straight there. When you get off the cable car, head for the bridge first and leave the French Village and Fantasy Park until later.

  • Shoot the hands from the ends. The classic angle is from either end of the bridge, looking along the curve with a hand in the foreground. A wide lens or your phone's 0.5x mode helps.

  • Use the viewpoints below the bridge. The garden paths beneath give the "hands holding the bridge" view without people in it.

  • Wear a solid colour. White, red or deep green stand out against the gold rail and the green forest.

  • Expect a short time limit when it's busy. Staff keep people moving at peak times, so plan your pose before you reach the middle.

  • Bring a light jacket. The summit is noticeably cooler and windier than the coast, especially in winter and in fog.

How to handle the crowds

A realistic plan for a first visit: be at the base station when the cable cars start, go up, walk the Golden Bridge, then the Le Jardin d'Amour gardens and the Linh Ung pagoda on the hill, and reach the French Village by late morning, when the bridge is at its busiest. Have lunch at the top and ride down mid-afternoon. With a three-day ticket, you can also come back on another morning if the first day is fogged in.

Keep in mind that cable car lines open and close depending on wind, crowds and maintenance. Follow staff directions at the base station for the line that is serving the Golden Bridge area that day.

Getting to the Golden Bridge from Da Nang

Ba Na Hills is about a 40–60 minute drive west of central Da Nang. To be on the first cable cars, you need to leave your hotel early, which is easiest with your own car and driver. The driver waits at the base while you are up the mountain.
