A month in Da Nang costs most single travellers between 17 and 25 million VND (about US$650–950), and more than half of that is rent. Food, transport and a phone plan are cheap here; where you sleep and how often you eat Western food decide the total.
Quick answer: a furnished studio with kitchen is 10–11 million ₫ a month. Add roughly 1 million ₫ for electricity, water and Wi-Fi, 4.5–8 million ₫ for food, and 1.5–2 million ₫ for getting around. A lean month lands near 17.5 million ₫ (≈US$670); a comfortable one near 25 million ₫ (≈US$965).
Prices checked November 2026. US$ figures use about 26,000 ₫ to the dollar.

Rent: the line that decides everything
Monthly rentals in Da Nang split into three groups. Shared rooms and basic local rooms start around 4–6 million ₫ but rarely include cleaning or a proper kitchen. Furnished studios of 30–40 m² sit around 8–12 million ₫. One-bedroom apartments in high-rise buildings near the beach usually start at 12–15 million ₫ and climb fast with a sea view or a pool.
Our own studios at Corgi House are 10–11 million ₫ a month for 35 m² with a private kitchen, and cleaning plus fresh bed linen 3 times a week is included. That last part matters more than it sounds: paying a cleaner separately adds 1–1.5 million ₫ a month.
Before you sign anything, ask three questions:
- How is electricity charged? Some landlords charge 3,500–4,500 ₫ per kWh, others much more. With air-con at night it is the biggest extra.
- What is the deposit? One month's rent is normal. Two months is a red flag for a short stay.
- Is cleaning included? If not, budget for it or for your own time.
Electricity, water and Wi-Fi
Electricity is metered. A single person using air-con mostly at night typically uses 150–250 kWh a month, which at 4,500 ₫ per kWh comes to roughly 700,000–1,100,000 ₫. Running air-con all day while working from home pushes it higher. Water and Wi-Fi are usually a flat fee; in our studios it is 200,000 ₫ a month for both.
Food: cheap if you eat local
A bowl of mì Quảng or phở costs 30,000–50,000 ₫, a bánh mì 15,000–30,000 ₫, and a Vietnamese iced coffee 15,000–25,000 ₫. Eat mostly local, cook breakfast at home and you will spend around 150,000 ₫ a day, or 4.5 million ₫ a month.
Mix in Western cafés, brunch spots on the beach road and a few dinners out and the figure moves to 250,000–300,000 ₫ a day, about 8 million ₫ a month. Having your own kitchen is the easiest way to keep this line down: rice, eggs, fruit and vegetables from the local market cost little. Our Da Nang cost per day guide has more street prices.
Getting around
Most short rides in town are 20,000–40,000 ₫ by Grab bike and 30,000–60,000 ₫ by Grab car. If you go out once or twice a day, expect 1.5–2 million ₫ a month.
A rented automatic scooter is 1.2–1.5 million ₫ a month plus about 100,000 ₫ of fuel a week. It is cheaper if you ride a lot, but you need a valid licence for Vietnam and your travel insurance may not cover you without one.
For arrival day, a private airport pickup straight to your apartment is simpler than finding a car with luggage; we can send the driver to any of our buildings.
Phone, gym and the small stuff
- SIM card: a local monthly plan with about 1 GB a day costs 90,000–150,000 ₫. Buy it in a carrier shop in town rather than at the airport.
- Gym: local gyms are 300,000–700,000 ₫ a month; hotel-style gyms with a pool cost more.
- Laundry: some studios have a private washer; otherwise a laundry shop charges about 20,000–30,000 ₫ per kg.
- Coworking: if you need a desk outside home, a monthly hot desk usually costs a few million ₫.
Visa and paperwork
Most visitors staying a month or longer use Vietnam's e-visa, valid for up to 90 days (US$25 for single entry, US$50 for multiple entry). See our e-visa guide for the steps. Some nationalities can enter visa-free for a shorter period, so check your passport first.
Foreigners staying in Vietnam must register a temporary residence address. When you rent from us, bring your passport on move-in day so your stay can be registered with the local police as the law requires.
Where to stay for a month
Son Tra is the beach side: close to My Khe, seafood restaurants and the peninsula. Hai Chau is the city centre and the airport side: markets, offices and shorter rides to the terminal. Our where to stay in Da Nang guide compares the areas in more detail, and you can see current studios with real photos and prices on the monthly apartments page.
FAQ
Is 1,000 US dollars a month enough in Da Nang?

What is the cheapest way to rent for one month?
Book a furnished studio with utilities explained up front and cleaning included, then cook some meals at home. Avoid nightly-rate apartments for a full month; monthly prices are usually much lower.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
