Ba Na Hills sits in the mountains about 40 km west of central Da Nang. From the airport the road runs west out of the city, so you avoid the beach traffic and reach the cable car station in 40–50 minutes.

Going straight from the airport to Ba Na Hills: how the day works
Landing. Your driver tracks the flight and waits at arrivals with your name: up to 90 minutes free after an international landing and 60 minutes after a domestic one.
The drive. 40–50 minutes to the cable car station. Ask for a short stop for a SIM card, an ATM or a coffee on the way (+$4 under 30 minutes).
Luggage. Your suitcases stay locked in the car with the driver. Take only a day bag up the mountain; lockers on site cost extra.
On the mountain. Plan 5–6 hours for the cable car, the Golden Bridge, the French Village and the gardens.
Hotel drop-off. Message the driver when you are back at the lower station and he picks you up for the drive to your hotel in Da Nang or Hoi An.
Is it a good idea to visit Ba Na Hills on arrival day?
It works well when your flight lands before about 10:00 and you slept on the plane. The mountain is cooler than the coast, the gates usually open around 7:00–8:00, and you use a day that would otherwise be spent waiting for hotel check-in at 14:00.
It is not a good idea when:
you land after midday: you would only have a few hours at the top for a full-price ticket;
the forecast is for low cloud or heavy rain, which is common from September to December — the Golden Bridge can disappear in fog;
you travel with very young children after a night flight.
In those cases, take a simple airport transfer to your hotel and book a Da Nang to Ba Na Hills private car for another morning instead.
